September, 2009We recently stayed at the Kauhale Makai which in itself, the unit was fine. It was updated and nice and had a good view of the ocean. Unfortunately, the management company had given us the wrong key code and we were locked out for several hours and unable to go anywhere when we DID get let in because no one could tell us the code. We had to figure it out on our own (they transposed two numbers) Good thing too, because no one answered any of the "emergency" lines. Also, our toilet made a squealing noise every time you flushed it. To me it was like someone beaming aboard the starship enterprise, to my husband it was a moped doing a burn out in a parking garage, either way, very distracting and annoying. Finally, this unit is in a very LOUD part of Maui. There are lots of street noises and one day we were awakened at FOUR AM by a car horn that just blared without stopping for several minutes. I won't be going there again, no matter how nice the unit itself was.

We apologize for the code mix up. We have addressed the breakdown in the emergency service not recieving the call information, and this should not happen in the future. This is the first time we have heard the toilet makes noise, and we will certainly check it out. Again we are sorry, and hope you enjoyed our beautiful island.

Condo is lovely, altho a bit chock-a-block, view is awe-inspiring -whales jumping, longboats paddling. But the street noise is HORRIBLE

Aloha, Laurie: Please excuse me; perhaps in my rush to comment on #606, I hurried-thru other parts of the survey.
Truly, your service was EXCEPTIONAL. You contacted me, in multiple ways, and followed-through with everything, to make sure our communication was complete -- all at the very last minute. You were friendly, direct and sweet, and took care of addressing everything with great aloha.
And the condo was lovely and spotless and well-equipped. Weird about the street noise - because we've stayed on the road in Kihei many times before - it's like the sound just straight-shot up to that level in the air, louder than if you were on the sidewalk.
Anyway, much mahalo for your fine service. We'll be recommending you. (Just a question, tho: is that $50 fee part of every rental -- or because we gave no advance notice or no deposit? I guess I wasn't expecting it.)
Thanks again,
Barbara

Subject: Reservation at Kauhale Makai
Aloha Barbara,
Thank you for staying at Kauhale Makai 606. I apologize for the street noise. I will be sure to mention it to others when they book. Were you unhappy with our services? They were rated 0. I remember you were a last minute over the weekend reservation and were travelling at the time, but I thought we addressed all your needs. I apologize that we did not. If you would like to share what we can do to improve our service I would appreciate your time.
Mahalo,
Laurie
